Fishing Update

Oct 31, 2016

  • a new fishing mechanic has been added – you’ll have to stop the hook while over the success zone to hook a pokemon
  • fishing speed has been increased (level affects the speed more)
  • a smaller, green area has been added to the fishing hooking mechanic
  • stopping the hook over this area will cause a perfect hook to happen, which increases experience gain by 1.5x for that encounter

Patch #3

  • the fishing success zone will no longer spawn directly under the hook
  • fishing speeds and hook rates have been reworked, you’re now able to encounter pokemon while fishing much quicker than before

Fishing Details:

Fishing speed is a number that is influenced by your fishing level. You have a chance to hook a pokemon every ‘fishing speed’ seconds. The chance to hook a pokemon depends on the type of rod you’re using and if you have an ability which affects hooking chance, like Suction Cups.

Fishing Speed in ms (new) = 2000 – (fishingLevel*10)

Hooking rates:
Old Rod 50% (previously 20%)
Good Rod 60% (previously 25%)
Super Rod 70% (previously 30%)
Steel Rod 80% (previously 35%)
Master Rod 100% (previously 40%)
